Community Roundup - July '17
The dog days of summer are officially upon us, but we're beating the heat in July with some of these cool submissions from the Artiphon community. Keep on scrolling for dragons, kings, magic, and magnetism – it's not just the stuff of fantasy!
Fit For A King (Or Queen): Game of Thrones Theme by Parth Raval & Darshil A Shah
For many of us, this month's major life event was the kickoff of a new season of GOT, but Parth Raval and Darshil A Shah also recently recorded a legendary take on the show's iconic opening theme for your fantasy fix. Multi-instruments, drones, flutes, kangaroos --- this duo's latest has it all (including cameos from the INSTRUMENT 1 and the ROLI Seaboard RISE). Be sure to check out Parth's equally impressive Indian Fusion arrangement as well!
Mile-High Music-Making: Andrew Wong Covers Kings of Leon
INSTRUMENT 1 wiz Andrew Wong is back at it again with a flaming hot rendition of "Sex on Fire" by Nashville natives Kings of Leon. Note the alternate tunings and the fact that he's recording from 10,000 feet while on an Air France flight! You can find Andrew's other covers over on his Instagram page @at_onement, including a terrific take on Lady Antebellum's "Need You Now," as featured in last month's Community Roundup.

Catching Our Attention: Sonny's Live Rework of a Track by Charlie Puth
Earlier in July, YouTuber Sonny posted this funky take on Charlie Puth's viral smash hit "Attention," and we couldn't get it out of our heads here at the Artiphon office for weeks. Featuring multiple live instrument parts, Sonny expertly employs loops on the INSTRUMENT 1 and Novation hardware before building to a toe-tapping crescendo with that infectious bass line, all in real-time. Subscribe to his channel on YouTube at 2BytesTV for more.
From Rag'n'Bone to Riches: "Human" by Frank Bell
Singer-songwriter Frank Bell recently sat down for this soulful, minimalist cover of Rag'n'Bone Man's foot-stomping anthem, "Human." A perfect example of analog and digital coexisting in harmony, the INSTRUMENT 1 here is being used in table position with tap pad drum and grid piano tunings keeping time under acoustic rhythm and lead guitar. See how it compares against the original.

Now Streaming: Singularity EP by The Electromagnetics
Readers of past community roundups may recognize The Electromagnetics, and for July, the psych-rock band is back with an acid-infused EP release. Published under their own label, UNSIGNED TAPES, "Singularity EP" is available now for your listening pleasure on iTunes, Spotify, and Bandcamp and even features the INSTRUMENT 1 on a number of tracks.
