Compute and Sense Engineer
Artiphon is a music technology startup currently expanding our development team in multiple areas. As a Compute and Sense Engineer you will be responsible for the design and development of both the architecture and algorithms of compute and sense systems for use in innovative musical creation interfaces across multiple products. Your role will include interacting on a daily basis with mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, and product designers to deliver world-class and highly reliable custom hardware designs.
Architect and develop audio and sensing compute platforms.
Develop embedded software for use in products and supporting hardware.
Perform system-level trades to help guide early product development.
Perform early proof-of-concept developments to assess feasibility of key features.
Own algorithms and system performance from napkin sketch, through first customer ship, to stable product in marketplace.
Occasional international travel required to support production.
BSE (MSE preferred) or equivalent and 5+ years experience designing/developing embedded computer architectures, digital audio algorithms, and sensor processing algorithms.
Strong grounding in the fundamentals of DSP, experience in bare metal/low-level programming in cost/power/performance constrained systems, and an ability to work towards solving abstract or loosely defined problems.
Experience working with small teams in dynamic start-up environments.
Digital audio and MIDI experience is highly preferred, musical background a plus.

Position can be contract or FTE.
