Artiphon is a music technology startup currently expanding our development team in multiple areas. As a Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for the design of mechanical components and assemblies that provide innovative musical creation interfaces that can be reliably manufactured at scale. Your role will include interacting on a daily basis with electrical engineers, industrial designers, embedded developers, and product designers to deliver world-class and highly reliable custom hardware designs.
Design, develop, and test electro-mechanical assemblies for manufacture by modern mass-production processes (CNC, tooling, plastics injection molding, etc) for consumer products.
Perform system-level trades to guide early-product development.
Own mechanical assemblies from napkin sketch, through first customer ship, to stable product in marketplace.
Perform early proof-of-concept developments to assess feasibility of key features.
Some international travel to China will be required in support of manufacturing partners.
BS (MS preferred) in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field.
5+ years experience, consumer electronics product development.
Experience working with Solidworks.
Experience designing electromechanical assemblies to be produced at ~10k quantities.
Experience working with small teams in dynamic start-up environments.
Product validation experience (UL, RF, shock/drop, etc.).
Digital audio and MIDI experience is highly preferred, musical background a plus.
