Meet our friend, May Zoean: a singer-songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist based in Los Angeles. We began how most internet friendships start: we followed each other online, exchanged a few emoji comments, and then started to DM.
Inspired by what May created with other instruments, we knew she had to have an Orba immediately, so naturally, we sent her one.
As soon as May received Orba, it began to appear in some of her stories and other posts, fitting seamlessly into May’s already amazing music videos.
When Orba became a sidekick on May's day trips to the beach, we realized May perfectly embodied an archetype of the Artiphonist: the forward-thinking creative who values a lightweight, flexible setup; one that creates on-the-go and isn’t afraid to experiment with less traditional ways of music-making. The Artiphonist that isn’t looking to replace their other instruments, but rather add to their tool belt; the one that’s searching for a way out of their creative rut.
Soon enough, we had a new instrument on our hands: Chorda. We knew May had to be one of the first to take it for a spin. We headed to LA with a few prototypes to shoot this video with her — an artist who has inspired us, many of you, and certainly, our products.
The music you hear in this video is fully composed by May, using only Chorda. May is just one of the artists we often collaborate with who reminds everyone here at Artiphon why we do what we do: to inspire and build a musically creative world that exists outside of traditional music spaces, conventional instruments, and ordinary people. We hope that this video, accurately titled 'May in the Life' inspires you to recognize the place Chorda can have in your own life.
