We're so pleased to debut our latest Artiphon Session with Nashville-based hip hop guitarist Kelley Janae. Using her impressive guitar chops, Kelley has used INSTRUMENT 1 to craft her unique musical voice and share it with the masses on the internet.

Artiphon stopped by Kelley's studio to learn more about her influences, her musical journey, and the way she uses INSTRUMENT 1 in her creative workflow.

Growing up, I originally wanted to play drums. I remember seeing Sheila E and was infatuated with how she would play in heels. Instead, I ended up picking up the guitar and just continued from there.

Once I started putting my beats out on social media people started loving them and just kind of gravitated towards there. It's a great way to create a positive environment for your audience and get away from whatever they're dealing with on a day to day basis.

I do my best not to overthink. I think that's just definitely a number one thing that I do when it comes to creating. I just go wherever my brain may take me because if you think too hard, you're not gonna get where you’re gonna want to go.

I love the INSTRUMENT 1 definitely. When I first picked it up, the first thing I thought of was that I could throw down a piano phrase much more fluently instead of taking 30 minutes. I can focus more on creating as opposed to trying to figure out how to use certain things. You just let it flow more than anything. It just kind of sparks a flame underneath me.
